Map

I've got 136 pages, plus about 25 extra from future chapters I've written already. Altogether it could get as long as 300 pages when I'm finished. Just for fun I'll put the Zabrin world map I just finished here. It doesn't look very clear, but it's still accurate!

Progress

So far, close the eight chapters done, but as of now writing will go a lot faster, since I'm overcoming my tendency to do writing and editing at the same time. In chapter 9, I'm introducing a new character, who is crucial to the plot, so I'll know I'm making progress when she's fully integrated into the story. Wish me luck!

1/5th done

I've now finished 5 chapters of the book. That marks it 1/5th done, with a planned 25 chapters. I'm writing quickly, so wish me luck to get at least the first draft done by December of 2010!

4 chapters finished

I've finished the 4th chapter! Now I can move on to the start of all the action--chapter 5. From now on, I'm going to write fast so I can hurry and get the first draft done!

A new post

Finally, a new post! Anyway, I've still been writing, so here's a sample of what chapter 4: the Library has to offer!

So, he stealthily made his way down winding stairs, through unfamiliar halls, and as far as he could get down. A few Council members almost saw him.
Then, a half-hour later, he found a scary looking door that was unlike the other perfect doors in the building. They were elegant and smooth, while this one was dark and jagged. In fact, he noticed that the walls were no longer polished marble; they were stone. The door had something written on it: “Rornůr Kei-darf. Uio Rote-nighas.” Alex ignored it.
He entered through the door. It was dark, but he found a lit torch in the hallway and continued through. It led to lots of cold, black stone stairs, winding endlessly downward.
If this is the exit, thought Alex, they need to make a sign that says “This way to exit.” And maybe an occasional torch along the walls.

How is it? I have a date for release set up for the book. 2010! I know, that's not specific. But it's something!

WRITING

I'm writing more and more. Chapter 3 is all figured out, so I'm just writing it down now. I will write later on the setting. Bye.

Lots of editing

I have totally revised the second chapter and I am getting the story all set up. I'm thinking that, since publishers make it impossible to send in a story, I'll self-publish it first, and then if it gets popular the publishers will hand me a contract or something.
